Büchner writes ‘Danton’s Dead’ where he reflects on the validity of the French Revolution, through two of its protagonists: Danton, a great orator repented of his crimes, and Robespierre, the inflexible Puritan, obsessed with the power of the guillotine.
Considered as one of Büchner's classics, together with Woyzek, the work now reaches the local boards of a group of young graduates of the Fernando González Academy, directed by Heidrun Breier. “From the school in Germany I have encountered this work, and I feel that it still has an enormous validity in how politics are conducted today. It is a powerful text and the original is that it will be work by eight women giving voice to male roles, ”says the director.
